Snapshot - December 2017

COLLEGE PROGRAM
The Eternus sessions for the College students continue to be held across the week at different timings to account for their individual college schedules. We have focused on writing skills, compelling them to be imaginative and creative. They were also given tasks in Powerpoint, which tested their knowledge and ability with PPT and tasks that needed them to explore the application.
MEETING - COLLEGE COURSES/ CAREERS We met with the Students of Std IX to XII regarding their future subject streams/ courses in colleges. They were told about admissions, scope of courses, eligibility and similar issues of relevance.. The students of Std XI and XII were tasked with listing the 3 courses they wanted to apply for, after discussions with their parents, in the context of their academic performances and their areas of interest. Two days later, we met them and answered their queries and emphasised the need to begin saving for the child’s college education.
SCHOOL PROGRAMME
The children continue to have regular Eternus classes 5 days a week. Preparing the children for pre-half yearly tests and revision was the focus during this this period.
PARENTS MEETING
We met all the children individually, along with their parents, for a review of the Quarterly exam marks. The performance of each child was discussed and we set them targets for the upcoming Half yearly exam. We discussed with the parents about maintenance of the Eternus Centre and their general participation. Parents were given a schedule for cleaning, making snacks and other duties. While the parents of our newer children took on roles, we allocated roles to other parents who have hitherto been less involved in the Eternus community

SPIRITUAL IMPACT QUESTIONNAIRE We conducted a short survey of the children of Std VI & above on their knowledge of Christ, prayer, salvation & understanding of faith. These responses are a source of understanding that helps us craft our approach in the future in sharing Christ with them.
VISIT TO SK VIDYALAYA - Practitioners of the Multiple Intelligence teaching methodology The Eternus team visited a rural school in Thiruvallur– SK Vidyalaya - that has implemented a new teaching methodology for Std I to V. Our objective was to observe some best practices that are gaining ground. Our visit included interaction with teachers, the Principal, the School Management. We were able to sit in and observe a couple of classroom sessions. The teachers have been trained to implement this new methodology of teaching which has found to be very effective in the formative years.
